Updated: Nov 19, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Constellation, an Exelon company, has recognized Preface’s innovative multilingual partnership with Berkmar High School and Lilburn Elementary School as a 2019 Community Champion.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA. – Preface’s unique bilingual literacy initiative with Berkmar High School and Lilburn Elementary School has been officially recognized as a 2019 Community Champion by Constellation, an Exelon company. The award, given to select community organizations making an impact in education and youth services, comes with a discretionary financial grant that is earmarked for support of the Preface mission.

“We’re thrilled and honored to receive this vote of confidence from the national community impact experts at Constellation,” said Jonathan “JT” Wu, Founder & Executive Director of Preface. “When it comes to fostering literacy and comprehension, especially with emerging bilingual students, there’s no such thing as too many resources. One of the most exciting things about the Preface model of lean and localized partnerships is that we’re able to immediately invest any gift, no matter the size, in high impact ways that directly impact the next generation.”

Wu added that Preface is already working with its partners at Lilburn Elementary to use the awarded funds to purchase specialized multilingual children’s books that haven’t been available in the classrooms to date. In a field where every dollar can make a tremendous difference in the life of a young child, these new books are sure to find a lasting home – not just on school shelves – but in the hearts and minds of young students for years to come!
