Preface Partners with Georgia Leaders to Donate Impactful Legacy Gift to Graves Elementary School

Preface and community leaders pose with Graves Elementary School leadership and state, federal, and local leaders to celebrate the donation of this impactful Legacy Gift to the community.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORCROSS, GA –– On May 5, 2022 at 1:00 PM., Preface, an award-winning national childhood literacy non-profit, plans to make a generous Legacy Gift donation of over 150 brand-new books and thousands of dollars of healthcare materials to celebrate Preface's partnership with Graves Elementary School - the latest gift in Preface's home community of Gwinnett County.

The wide variety of donated books were specially selected alongside educators from Graves Elementary School for readers of all levels, languages, and cultures to enjoy. Complimenting the diversity of the student body, the large Legacy Gift of multilingual and highly representative books were specially picked to tailor this towards Gwinnett County’s diverse population of young students - and also includes thousands of dollars in sanitizers and disinfectant gels, to help keep students and teachers healthy and safe in the classroom.

This unique partnership was made possible thanks to a close working relationship formed between Preface and the office of Senator Raphael Warnock, with strong support from the staff of Gwinnett’s incumbent Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-7).

To celebrate the impactful public-private partnership between Preface, Gwinnett County Public Schools, and key stakeholders across the local, state, and federal level, Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux, as well as the Senator’s District Director, Martha Revelo, attended the Legacy Gift ceremony in-person to share remarks and express their support for early childhood education. Additional community leaders from the Gwinnett County Public Schools' Superintendent's Office and Gwinnett County Commissioner Ben Ku, also attended the celebration.

"It's an absolute privilege to be presenting this Legacy Gift to our friends at Graves Elementary School - celebrating both our partnership together and the bright futures in store for all of our kids here in Norcross,” said Preface’s Founder & Strategic Director, Jonathan “JT” Wu. “This particular Legacy Gift was truly made possible thanks to the hard work and coordination by so many leaders across the public and private sectors - including with the official offices of Senator Raphael Warnock and Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux. It’s inspiring to be championing a brighter educational future for the next generation alongside supportive stakeholders from across Georgia. As we continue to bring work together to supercharge the efforts of their incredible teachers here on the ground, all of us at Preface are so thankful for the opportunity to work with such talented and passionate educators in their fights to ensure Equality Through Education and Early Childhood Literacy for every child."

“Graves Elementary School is excited in partnering with the Preface Project,” said Parent Instructional Coordinator Sharon Chen. “The students enjoy working with the Ambassadors, and the Ambassadors are prepared with books and activities. Preface is a wonderful program to help our students grow in their reading. To see the faces of the students and hear them reading with the Ambassadors shows just how the Preface Project has made such a positive impact with the learning at school!”
